The Milwaukee Bucks are in Boston to take on the Celtics for Game 5 of their second-round playoff series, and will be without one of their best players for the game.

NBA Champion Khris Middleton has been ruled out for Game 5 with a knee injury that has kept him out of the series so far.

Middleton was injured in Game 2 of his first-round playoff series against the Chicago Bulls.

The Bucks were still only able to win the series in five games, and advanced to the second round against the Celtics.

Middleton is arguably their second best player, so his absence is nothing to be taken lightly.

The series between the Bucks and the Celtics is currently tied at 2–2 as each team has won one game on the road and one game at home.

They are very evenly matched, as they are both elite defensive teams, but they also have superstars in Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jason Tatum.

The winners of the series will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.

When will return

Milwaukee Bucks forward Khris Middleton hopes he needs two weeks to recover from a sprain in his left knee and help his team repeat as NBA champions.

The three-time All-Star is eyeing a return to the Eastern Conference semifinals, assuming the Bucks go past the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the playoffs. The series is tied in Milwaukee after the teams split in the first two games. Game 3 is Friday night in Chicago.

“They say two weeks,” Middleton said in the morning shootout. “Hopefully, I’ll be ready or close to be back on the court by then.”

Status

The Bucks have played well in his absence, but the former All-Star is arguably their second best player, so they’ll need him if they want to win another NBA championship.

Last season, the Bucks won the title in six games against the Phoenix Suns, the first time in Giannis Antetokounmpo’s career that he had won a title.

This season, they are seeded third in the Eastern Conference.

As for the Celtics, they are second seed in the East, so they have the advantage of a home court.

Their series is currently tied at 2–2, and each team has won one game at home and one game on the road.

The winner of the series will go on to face the Miami Heat or the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
