Injury update
Beyond Cobb, tackle David Bakhtiari, recovering from his second knee surgery, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, resting his broken pinky toe, were completely missing from practice due to injury. That means former practice squad quarterback Kurt Benkert, brought in this week because of Jordan Love’s test positive for Covid, saw his share of starter’s reps for the second straight day. Rodgers has stated several times that he will not miss time with his toe injury and that the missed exercise is to rest his toe, which is in line with his weekly participation since returning from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Interception
Of the five interceptions he posted in 2019 – which was tied for the second-most in football that season – King has just one more interception to his name. And, of course, we all remember the most recent NFC Championship game. For those reasons and more, many assumed that King would head elsewhere in free agency this past off-season. However, it was not so. Not only did the Green Bay Packers re-sign him, but the cap-strapped outfit signed him on a one-year deal worth up to $6 million.
Injured
King, who has been battling both hip and knee injuries, crashed out of a Packers Week 12 win over the Los Angeles Rams. He has only played a total of six games this season, but has started all six games. It will be interesting to see how the Packers position their cornerbacks if King is back and ready to play on Sunday, especially after Russell Douglas – the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week – did so well against the Rams. played. King can be relegated to a backup role, or used in the slot with Chandon Sullivan. Taylor missed the last two matches due to a stomach injury. While rarely used on offense, Taylor was serving as the team’s primary kickoff returner when rookie Kylin Hill went down with a knee injury at the end of the season. Rookie Amari Rodgers has been filling a returning kick in the last two games.
Interview
Kevin King is the founder of Secret 7, an excellent fundraiser. This isn’t a useless postcard, it’s a really great idea where he raises money for charity by selling super limited edition vinyl where you don’t know what the record is or who designed the cover art. Each of the 700 records is unique and has raised £100,000 so far. In their fourth year, they are holding a month-long exhibition at Somerset House from 10 April until the big sale on 4 May. Josh Jones tries and guesses who’s got Kevin in his locker this year. To no avail at all.
