Is a free agent
Irving has a player option worth $36.9 million in his contract for the 2022–23 season. If he decides not to take it, he will be an unrestricted free agent this off-season, allowing him to sign with any team of his choice.

Durant’s manager told ESPN that amid all the Kyrie Irving drama and with the Brooklyn Nets nearly two steps away from falling off a cliff, Kevin Durant has formally requested a trade. Adrian Wojnarowski said the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat are among Durant’s favorite landing spots.
Durant is going to be arguably the most profitable player ever traded in the NBA. He’s going to bring a king’s ransom back to Brooklyn. That’s why the Nets aren’t going to send him where he wants to go. Durant signed a four-year extension just last summer. He is under contract until 2026. Brooklyn isn’t backed into a corner here.
