Horses odds and predictions
One surprise: Yu is outranking Messier, even though he remains one of the top 2022 Kentucky Derby favorites at 8-1. In fact, Yu says Messier barely makes the top 10. One of the knocks on Messier is his performance when he is not setting pace or between horses.

Taiba’s performance showed that even though Messier may be the setter of the pace, it is not a guarantee of victory.
Instead, Yu is high on Cyberknife, even though he’s a 20-1 long shot. CyberKnife has raced three times this year and won their last two, including a successful showing in the Arkansas Derby. He has the pedigree you’re looking for because his sire, the Gun Runner, won several stakes races as a three-year-old and finished in the money in the 2016 Kentucky Derby.
CyberKnife also has peripherals that have portrayed the success of the Kentucky Derby in the past, as they’ve won their last race and are coming off the ideal five-week layoff. Their connections are stellar, too, as trainer Brad Cox and jockey Florent Gerroux won the Kentucky Derby last year with Mandaloun. Yu told Sportsline, “He looks like an absolute pro, and his last two works at Churchill have been impressive both visually and on the watch.” “His pedigree is perfect, and he has a great story.”
