Pickett’s hand size at the NFL Combine was originally measured at 8.5 inches. However, at Pitt’s Pro Day, his arm length was measured at 8.625 inches. The NFL measures hand size by taking a tape measure across the hand extending from the tip of the thumb to the tip of the little finger.
Of course, it’s not a huge difference and ultimately doesn’t change much in terms of his position in history — or in the current NFL.
The Athletic reported that an NFL quarterback coach said Pickett’s hand size was a “legit concern”. Another quarterback coach said there are teams that take smaller hand sizes into account when game planning, especially during cold weather games.
“They’re small,” another quarterback coach said, according to The Athletic. “However, when I moved it, it didn’t feel like, wow, your hand is like a baby’s.”
Hands
This is the most digestible, criticized and eyebrow-raising number associated with NFL quarterback prospects each year. And at the annual combine of the nation’s best players on Tuesday, former Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett became the latest high-profile passer whose arm size became part of his pre-draft windup.
Pickett’s right arm measured eight and a half inches, which would be the shortest of any quarterback currently in the NFL.
New Orleans Saints quarterback Taysom Hill, whose hands measured 8¾ inches by the 2017 draft, has the smallest hands among signal-callers, followed by Cincinnati Bengals backup quarterback Brandon Allen, whose hands measured 8½ inches in 2016. Senior Bowl. Allen, who told ESPN’s David Fleming in February 2020 that he had exercised the arm and used stretching/massage after the Senior Bowl, later had his arm measured 8⅞ inches at the 2016 combine.
Pickett, who was a Heisman Trophy finalist and won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in 2021, is viewed as a potential first-round selection entering the combine. He is the No. 1 quarterback and No. 19 overall prospect on Mel Kiper Jr.’s Big Board and the No. 2 quarterback (behind Liberty’s Malik Willis) and No. 19 prospect in Todd McShay’s Scouts Inc. rankings.
Wife
His wife’s name is Amy Paternoster. The couple’s wedding at Pleasantdale Chateau in New Jersey was nothing short of a fairy tale. Guests at the summery French-themed celebration watched Kenny Pickett, 25, and Amy Paternoster, 22, unite in a whimsical atmosphere. It was a day full of love, happiness and memorable moments.

Press conference
The Pittsburgh Steelers had a clear goal in mind to open the 2023 NFL season against the San Francisco 49ers.
After winning the coin toss, the Steelers received the ball to start the game. This differed from their more conservative strategy of defense the previous season.
Once they had the ball, the Steelers’ offense also looked different than last year. Instead of attempting to establish the run, Pittsburgh’s offense ran through second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett.
Darshan did not work. With their pass-first mentality, the Steelers controlled the ball for less than 9 minutes in the first half. The 49ers took advantage of excellent field position in the first two quarters and won 30–7.
Pickett accepted blame for his poor play during the post-game press conference. But when asked why the team only managed to mount one scoring drive in Week 1, he also seemed to address offensive coordinator Matt Canada’s game plan.
