kawhi leonard: New look| how long is out for| when will return
New look:
Kawhi’s return may have been a given. But the contract’s length shows that both parties are interested in a long-term commitment and, ideally, long-term success.
The wait, that is. Kawhi Leonard is a Los Angeles Clipper for at least the next three years, though a fourth is a possibility (and, literally, an option). He’s $176.3 million richer, and, metaphorically, the Clippers are, too. The franchise’s future, never an immediate concern but certainly a cagey long-term situation given the unpredictability of Kawhi, is now locked in place. It’s different; it’s nice.
How long is out for:
Kawhi Leonard remains sidelined indefinitely after knee surgery, but the Los Angeles Clippers forward said Monday that he agreed to a long-term contract this summer in hopes of returning to the court during the 2021-22 season.
The Clippers reached the Western Conference finals for the first time in franchise history last season. If they want to make it back to that playoff round again, they will have to collectively replace the production of their best player.
When will return:
Kawhi Leonard will be sidelined indefinitely after undergoing surgery in July to repair a partial tear of the ACL in his right knee. Leonard may be able to rejoin the rotation at some point during the 2021-22 season, but Paul George and Co. will be expected to do the heavy lifting to start the new campaign.

Nearly one month since Leonard underwent surgery to repair what the team said was a partially torn anterior cruciate ligament, a scar a few inches long appeared to run up his right knee.
