Michigan men’s basketball coach Juwan Howard has been suspended five games – the remainder of the regular season – and fined $40,000 for hitting Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabenhoft in the face after Sunday’s game, Big The TEN Conference made the announcement on Monday.
Wisconsin coach Greg Gard was fined $10,000 for violating the convention’s sportsmanship policy, but was not suspended, while Krabenhoft is not expected to be punished.
Michigan forwards Terrence Williams and Moussa Diabet and Wisconsin guard Jahkoby Neith were suspended one game each. All three were seen punching. Disciplinary action was taken by the Big Ten in conjunction with both schools.

Watch any basketball game and have the coaches hold each other’s hands as a universal sign they want to talk in the handshake line.
Look from other angles and Howard yells at the Wisconsin coach first and then double-handedly grabs his shirt.
No. It is quite clear what happened. Not sure why people are so invested in saying differently. Why did Howard start yelling “don’t touch me” if Howard caught up first.
Now insisting on this is getting a bit strange.
Glad the NCAA is a little more sensible and can look at it objectively.
I still think the coach at Wisconsin should apologize for his role in this whole affair. Howard has taken on most of the responsibility, he has taken that responsibility. Time for a Wisconsin coach to do the same.
Nothing to apologize for. If you try to leave a handshake and yell I’ll remember you kid after calling the same timeout a few weeks ago. And as soon as he said don’t touch me, let the guard go. On the other hand Juwan grabbed his collar with both hands and shouted at him

Their second son, Jett, plays high school basketball at Monteverde Academy in Florida. He is ranked 41st in the class of 2022 according to ESPN and 37th according to 247Sports. He is expected to join the family in Ann Arbor.
Salary
Juwan Howard is the Men’s Basketball National Coach of the Year. It’s no surprise that his renegotiated contract, announced Tuesday by Michigan, comes with a significant pay increase.
Howard will receive a compensation package totaling more than $16.9 million over the next five years. His contract was awarded to MLive on Wednesday as part of a records request.
Howard, currently in his third season at Michigan, was set to make a total of $2.2 million this year when he was hired in 2019, when his original five-year contract was signed. The entire deal was worth $11.2 million. Instead, Howard’s compensation increased this year to $3.25 million. This leads to an increase of two percent in each of the next four years.
