Week 3
The star quarterback is not only active but will start in Week 3 despite a rib injury.
Will play today
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was injured in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He was seen holding his left side near his rib cage late in the fourth quarter. But he was able to get back on his feet and attempted to rally the Chargers for a comeback. After Los Angeles lost to Kansas City, it was reported that Herbert suffered a rib injury that would require further testing.
Last week, it was announced that the 24-year-old had suffered a rib cartilage fracture. While it is possible to play with an injury, his pain tolerance will reflect whether he can take the field against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday afternoon.
He got an injection on Thursday which helped to relieve the pain to some extent, which apparently helped ease it.
Injury update
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is active for the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars despite a painful fractured rib cartilage.
Herbert was reportedly considering whether to inject painkillers as he went through a pregame warm-up, according to ESPN. He suffered an injury to his left side when he was hit by Chiefs defensive end Mike Dana late in the Chargers’ 27–24 loss at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs on September 15, and although Herbert continued to play, he was clearly outplayed. Were in a great deal of pain. According to the ESPN report, there was a debate on whether he should also play against the Jaguars.
