Why is not playing

Bears quarterback Justin Fields walked into the locker room five minutes into the second half after a tackle to end the Bears’ first drive of the third quarter.

After walking to the sideline, Fields went to the first injury tent. The Bears later ruled him out for the game with a rib injury.

Veteran Andy Dalton replaced him and threw a touchdown pass on his second snap – a 60-yard screen pass catch-and-run by receiver Darnell Mooney.

Anticipation was high for Fields’ first game after the bye, when the rookie showed promise in the fourth quarter of the Bears’ loss to the Steelers. But Fields struggled against one of the league’s worst pass defenses, completing 4-of-11 passes for 79 yards on Sunday at Soldier Field. He ran for 23 yards four times.

Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields was ruled out in the second half of Sunday’s 16-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens with a rib injury.

A source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that initial tests revealed no broken ribs. Fields will undergo further testing on Monday.

Fields went back to the locker room at the beginning of the third quarter after being first screened at the Blue Medical Tent. It is not clear in which play he was hurt; The first-round draft pick was frequently hit by the Baltimore defense.

Fields took a sack on his final drive but remained in the game for four more plays.

After the game, coach Matt Nagy said he was unsure whether Fields had broken a rib, or if the injury was the result of a special hit or a cumulative impact.

“I don’t know,” said Nagy. “I’ll have to find out. We’ll start getting into some of those later.”

Fields finished the afternoon 4-of-11 with a lost fumble for 79 yards.

Veteran Andy Dalton changed fields and immediately threw a 60-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Darnell Mooney. Dalton lost the starting job to Fields after suffering a knee injury in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

He also threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to Marquis Goodwin in the fourth quarter and finished the game 11-in-22 for 201 yards.

The Bears (3-7) have a quick turnaround and play against the Lions (0-9-1) on Thanksgiving Day in Detroit.

Dalton said he was ready to start over if Fields’ ribs made him unable to play.

Dalton said, “I prepare like I have prepared this whole year.” “So if I’m starting out I’m ready to go.”

An aggressively challenged Justin Fields and the Bears disappointed the 49ers defense for much of Week 8, despite the Niners getting a much-needed victory.

For those of you who may see San Francisco 49ers continuing the trend of Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields looking bad in Week 8, well, that didn’t happen.

Chicago ended the 49ers’ four-game losing streak by falling to head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad 33–22 at Soldier Field in a game when defending coordinator Demeco Ryan had few answers, but Shanahan’s offense ended the season. I made a stride after halftime.

Fields, the number 11 overall pick from this year’s NFL Draft that entered the game, completed more than 57 percent of his passes with only two touchdowns thrown against six interceptions, a polished two against a Niners defense. What seemed like the pro of the year had no answer for the seemingly melee rookie.

Ribs

There is some concern about the health of Justin Fields, who left the field on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens in what is being marked by a rib injury. Initially listed as suspicious, he was eventually downgraded by the team and did not return. While there appears to be some semblance of good news, initial tests reportedly showed no broken ribs – according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport – but instead Fields suffered only bruised ribs. Could, but a final determination would be to run more tests before brewing the beer.

In his absence, head coach Matt Nagy dispatched former starting quarterback Andy Dalton, who lost the QB1 role earlier this season after injuring himself. Struggling with former league MVP Lamar Jackson – inactive in this bout due to illness – this became a defensive nail-biter at Soldier Field, which saw neither team go deeper into the end zone in the third quarter, but Dalton changed it quickly.

Shortly after entering the competition, he flat found wide receiver Darnell Mooney for a short pass, which turned out to be anything but as Mooney pushed through the Ravens defense for a 60-yard touchdown.
