Justin Fields expressed his disappointment after the Bears’ 27-10 loss to the Packers on Sunday night. Unfortunately, his comments were taken to heart by Bear fans.

“Yeah, it hurts more in the locker room than Bears fans,” Fields said after Sunday’s game. “At the end of the day, they’re not doing any work. I see the boys in the locker room everyday. I see how much work they do. It hurts to come out of such a depressing loss.”

The second-year quarterback’s comments were taken as a gut punch by some fans. Unfortunately, Fields misjudged his reaction to Bear fans after seeing the Bears lose their seventh consecutive defeat to their NFC North rival.

Still, he brushed off the controversy on Wednesday by explaining his feelings and what he meant with his comments.

Justin Fields’ press conference on Wednesday at Halas Hall was unlike any other held since the Bears drafted it last year.

The quarterback of the second year was reflective and transparent, delving deeper into his thoughts than he had ever done in front of the media. Fields detailed why Sunday night’s loss to the Packers hurt him more than other losses and how it changed his outlook this week. He also addressed a statement made in Green Bay, which went viral on social media after being taken out of context.

“I’m testing the waters a little bit,” Fields told reporters. “I want to show you guys more personality. I don’t want to be a robot here… I just have to be more descriptive with my words and really only describe what I’m trying to say. Mine I mean, I could be here and be like, ‘Yeah, we’re going to do this and that,’ and just be a robot. But I try to show the world my personality, you guys your personality I try to pretend, to show that I am a real person and yes, I do make mistakes.”
