Knee injury
Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields led his team to a second consecutive victory over the Raiders in Las Vegas on Sunday.
Before the game anointed the starter for the rest of the season on Andy Dalton, Fields played very good football. He completed 20 of 12 passes for 111 yards with his first NFL touchdown pass and zero interceptions.
While it wasn’t an eye-opening performance from an Ohio State product, it was good enough to rely on a stingy defense as Chicago went 3-2 in the season.
A day later, and we’re hearing some information about an injury Justin Fields suffered in the first half of said game.
According to Tom Pelicero of NFL Media, Fields suffered an over-extended left knee in the second quarter. This forced the rookie to miss just two plays. The report said Fields should be good to go against division-rivals Green Bay Packers next Sunday.
Whenever we are talking about the knee and the NFL player, there is always some reason to exercise caution. But it should be noted that the said injury was not slowing Fields down. In fact, Chicago went on a 16-play, 86-yard touchdown-scoring drive when he was injured.
Is Injured
Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields had a rough NFL debut on several levels. He was dismissed astonishingly nine times and completed just six passes in 20 attempts for 68 yards. All those hits took a toll, according to the Chicago Sun-Times’ Brad Biggs, and head coach Matt Nagy says Fields is dealing with a hand injury.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Fields himself says that his hand is fine. We’ll see if he misses any practice time, but at this point it looks like he’ll be fine. His biggest task will be to overcome this difficult start of his career as a beginner.
Starter Andy Dalton may miss a few more games, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, but he’s not putting him on the IR, which gives him a chance to return sooner rather than later. If the field continues to struggle, that timetable can be done a bit early. Although the Lions should have a slightly easier test for the Bears in Week 4.
Vegan
Bears rookie Justin Fields switched to a plant-based diet and wants to open a vegetarian pizza shop in Chicago
NFL rookie quarterback Justin Fields switched to a plant-based diet during quarantine.
Fields says the diet has helped her with injury prevention and constipation issues.
Experts say a plant-based diet can reduce the risk of long-term health problems.

Justin Fields abstains from cheese, but that doesn’t mean he abstains from pizza.
As a first-round draft pick by the Chicago Bears, Fields is preparing to launch his NFL career in one of America’s biggest pizza cities. But the only pizza he’ll be cutting up is one with vegan cheese and a plant-based crust.
He has held on to those flavors since switching to a plant-based diet in May 2020.
“In the middle of the pandemic, I moved back home to Georgia, and my family wanted to try a plant-based 28-day detox,” Fields told Insider. “After the 28-day period, I liked the results it gave me physically, but also internally and how it felt.”
As one of Chicago’s newest sports stars, Fields hopes to someday share his tastes with locals by opening his own vegetarian pizza place.
“You rarely see famous Chicago pizza restaurants that have vegan cheese on them,” Fields said. “I hope one day [to open your own vegetarian pizza shop]. That would be awesome. We’ll definitely create more knowledge for other people who think vegan things are bad. So if I was able to do that, we could get the word out, and people would try it, and more people would think of going vegan or plant-based.”
Hurt
There wasn’t much good news for the Chicago Bears during Sunday’s 26-6 loss to the Cleveland Browns, but at least they got something after the game.
Quarterback Justin Fields told reporters that his right arm was “fine” after a precautionary X-ray. He was dismissed nine times early in his first career, as Chicago’s offensive line was essentially invisible.
The Bears will be hoping to protect the 22-year-old from injury for a long time as he develops into a potential franchise quarterback. The Ohio State product was selected 11th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft after a college career that saw him earn Heisman Trophy votes in each of the previous two years.
During his two seasons with the Buckeyes, Fields counted 63 passing touchdowns and 15 rushing touchdowns.
Injuries can be a concern if they slow his development, although the bear should be happy with his depth in the situation.
Andy Dalton can handle starting quarterback duties if needed on his return from a knee injury, while Nick Foles has plenty of experience under center as well.
