Julius Andre Maurice Jones (born August 14, 1981) is a former American football running back. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He also played for the Seattle Seahawks and the New Orleans Saints. He played college football at the University of Notre Dame.

When Julius Jones was 19 years old, convicted of a murder he says he did not commit. I need your help to save his life.
Julius has been living on the death penalty for nearly 20 years, and is kept in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day. He is allowed one hour of sunlight a day and a bath three times a week. Every minute we wait to take action, Julius suffers. Every moment that passes brings Julius closer to being executed for a crime he did not commit.
At the time he was convicted, Julius was a 19-year-old student athlete with a promising future, attending the University of Oklahoma on an academic scholarship. It is clear that Julius’ attorney did not defend him adequately, and that apparent racial bias played a significant role in the process. for example:
Eyewitnesses kept Mr Jones at his parents’ home, miles away from the crime scene, at the time of the murder.
Mr Jones’ co-defendant admitted to involvement in the crime and is now free after testifying against Julius. He was heard bragging that he “set up Julius.” Mr Jones’ co-defendant matches the shooter’s only eyewitness description based on the length of his hair.
Story
Julius Jones, who has been on death row for 19 years for the 1999 murder in Oklahoma, has always said he had no part. Mr Jones, who is represented by federal attorneys Dale Bych and Amanda Bass, was convicted and sentenced to death at age. 19 years old and has now spent half his life in prison, awaiting execution for a crime that new and compelling evidence suggests he did not commit.
More than 6.3 million people and counting have signed a petition supporting Mr Jones in his fight to prove his innocence in the murder of Paul Howell, a businessman in Edmond, Okla.
Despite this, Mr Jones’ execution has been scheduled for 18 November. He is one of seven people to face execution in Oklahoma in the next six months. If done, it would be the first execution to take place in Oklahoma since 2015, following a series of failed executions resulting in a statewide postponement.

An Oklahoma man on death row for a murder who says he didn’t do it will have one last chance to plead his case at a clemency hearing today.
In 1999, at the age of 19, Julius Jones was convicted of the murder of Paul Howell. Jones has always maintained his innocence, and his family maintains that he was at home at the time of the murder.
In September, the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board recommended Governor Kevin Stitt that Jones’ sentence be commuted to life imprisonment. The chairman of the board said, “I believe that there should be no doubt in cases of death penalty, and simply put, I have doubts in this matter.”

High-profile death row inmate Julius Jones is set to be put to death in six days, unless Governor Kevin Stitt or the courts intervene.
Jones was convicted of murdering Edmund businessman and father Paul Howell in front of their young children.
KOCO 5 followed the case for years and spoke to Howell’s daughter on Friday. She said the family has met with Stitt and explained why they think the sentence should be upheld.
It comes as millions of supporters of the “Justice for Julius” campaign are demanding his life be spared.
“Family man, you know. Stupid, goofy, uniquely funny dad. Have two daughters,” said Rachel Howell, describing her father. “Always go to all my soccer games and basketball games.”
Paul Howell was murdered in his car outside his parents’ Edmunds home in 1999. Rachel Howell said she saw the whole thing.
“The door was already open. I saw him walking. He had a red bandana on his face, a white shirt, a silver gun, like, on top of his leg, as he was walking, he opened the door and then shot my father in the head,” she said.
“That’s the main image I remember of my dad’s head falling down,” she said.
She says Jones is the killer, and the courts agree.
“I remember running down the street with my aunt and my sister and she fired at us again – and, luckily, missed,” she said. “But, he said, ‘Wait! And shot at us.”
