The Atlanta Falcons finally traded Julio Jones to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, first reported last Sunday by NFL.com’s Ian Rapaport. Many Falcons fans are going to be upset over compensation for second- and fourth-round picks, but the best offer was on the table for the man who no longer wanted to be there.

Julio Jones is no question that he is going to be the first-ever Ballot Hall of Famer and a franchise legend. Trading him away is going to sting but when he requested the trade the Falcons had no choice.

One to two is likely to be more effective with Julio joining the offense with Derrick Henry and AJ Brown. The biggest question left is what is going to happen to the Atlanta Falcons offense?

Sports Seriously: Mackenzie Salmon and Annalies Bailey discuss what makes the Titans a real Super Bowl contender in the AFC with the addition of Julio Jones.

Why did Julio Jones choose No. 2 to be his equal number with the Tennessee Titans?

The decision was made by new teammate AJ. Brown, Jones told reporters Thursday — and the selection marks the trio’s new dynamic on the Titans’ offense.

“I actually just picked it up,” Jones said after Thursday’s off-season practice, his first with the Titans. “Me and AJ, we were over dinner and just talking. He tried to give me (number) 11. But I said, ‘I don’t want that. That’s your number.’ So I was going to go with (number) 2.

“(number) 2, one plus one is two. Then two times 11 is 22 (Derrick Henry’s number). So it’s like you have to deal with us.

“All four of us really,” Jones continued, referring to quarterback Ryan Tanhill. “But you have to deal with the whole crime. It takes all 11 people. It’s just something to keep people going and having fun with it because at the end of the day, it’s our job to have fun with it.”

The Atlanta Falcons selected Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft with his sixth overall pick.

Julio Jones had an illustrious college career in Alabama. The former Crimson Tide wideout caught 179 passes for 2,653 yards and 15 touchdowns in his three years at Alabama.

Julio Jones began his NFL career with an outstanding rookie year, with 54 passes for 959 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Jones’ rookie season success landed him on the 2011 NFL All-Rookie Team. The Atlanta Falcons hit a home run with the selection of Julio Jones as their sixth overall pick.

Julio Jones has played ten successful seasons with the Atlanta Falcons and will enter his 11th season in 2021. Let’s take a look at the successful ten-year career that Julio Jones has had with the Falcons.

Who did play for

One of the most anticipated deals of the off season is finally done. The Atlanta Falcons traded star wide receiver Julio Jones for the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, meaning it’s time to officially break down who is most affected by the move. Jones, 32, is still a player who has the potential to make a substantial impact on whatever the Titans are expected to do on the offensive. The only real question surrounding him is his ability to stay healthy, especially considering the huge investment that came through his $15.3 million guaranteed salary for this season.

Jones clearly got what he wanted. The seven-time pro bowler made a fresh start with a legitimate contender. Blooming Stars AJ to Titans Brown, while the Falcons got some much-needed salary cap relief. We can knock the Falcons for not landing the first-round pick they reportedly wanted in exchange for Jones—they got second and fourth-round picks while parting ways with a sixth-round pick—but that price will always be there. Seems ridiculously high for a player in his early 30s and with a big contract.
