Jew Randall Holiday is an American professional basketball player for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association. He played college basketball for one season with the UCLA Bruins before being selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft as the 17th overall pick.

Campbell Hall School in the Los Angeles district of Studio City, California. In his senior year, he averaged 25.9 points, 11.2 rebounds, 6.9 assists, 4.8 steals per game. He helped the team finish the season with a 31–5 record and win the California Division IV state title.
Holiday was named the 2008 Gatorade National Player of the Year, a Parade Magazine First Team All-American, and was rated by Rivals.com. In the class of 2008 Holiday decided to play his college basketball for the UCLA Bruins as the No. 1 point guard and No. 2 overall prospect. In his freshman season, Holiday averaged 8.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.6 steals in 27.1 minutes per game and was named Pac-10 All-Freshman Team Honors.
Holiday decided to skip his final three years of college and declare himself for the NBA Draft. Holiday was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers as the 17th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. He was first selected as an All-Star in the 2013 NBA All-Star Game as an Eastern Conference reserve, making him the youngest player in franchise history to be named an All-Star.
In the 2012–13 off-season, Holiday was traded to the Pelicans’ 2014 first-round draft pick and the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Nerlens Noel. He re-signed with the Pelicans in 2017. In the first round of the 2018 NBA Playoffs, Holiday scored a playoff-career-high 41 points as the Pelicans completed a first-round sweep of the Trail Blazers with a 131–123 victory. For the series, he averaged 27.8 points, 6.5 assists and 4 rebounds per game, shooting 56.8 percent off the field. The Pelicans lost in the second round to the Golden State Warriors in 5 games.
Contract

Holiday had a player option remaining of $26.7 million for the 2021–21 season, as part of a five-year, $126 million contract he signed with the New Orleans Pelicans in July 2017.
Under the terms of the deal, Holiday declined that option, but received a base salary of $30.1 million the following season, $32.4 million in 2022–23, and $34.7 million in 2023–24. He also has an option of $37 million for 2024-25.
Trade
In order to gain Holiday from the New Orleans Pelicans, the Bucks practically had to mortgage their future.
He traded two unsecured first-round draft picks in 2025 and 2027 to the Pelicans, as well as the rights to swap first-round picks in 2024 and 2026. The Bucks also dropped guards Eric Bledsoe and George Hill in the trade.
Holiday may not be a household name, but those who follow the NBA know the price was reasonable.
Holiday has only made one All-Star team (in 2012–13), but over the years, he has been one of the most well-rounded, influential, and low-rated players in the NBA.
