We’ll see how he responds to treatment,” McDermott said.

The fourth-year quarterback has started every game for the Bills since the start of the 2019 season.

McDermott isn’t sure whether Allen will be ready to practice when the Bills take the field to prepare for the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday.

“We’re going to take it here one day at a time … and see where it goes,” McDermott said. “I spoke to the medical team, and he has a chance. We’ll see where he goes. I just spoke with Josh as well, and he’s in good spirits.”

Injury status

Bills quarterback Josh Allen said he was “deeply saddened” after injuring his left leg on Sunday against the Buccaneers.

Allen played the full game in a 33-27 overtime loss to the Bills, but wasn’t at full strength for the fourth quarter and a good portion of the OT. He suffered an injury while being tackled in the fourth quarter in 15 minutes at the end of a 23-yard run for Tampa Bay. He limped back to the fumble and then threw a touchdown pass on the next game to cut Buffalo’s deficit to 27-17.
