Trade

Jose Berrios

Well Twins fans, we knew it was coming. Jose Berios is being traded to the AL East. At least it’s not our worst nightmare, because we won’t see him in the pinstripe. Instead, he turns to the Toronto Blue Jays for an incredible potential comeback.

Per Dan Hayes, the Twins will receive the service of two highly-respected Double-A players. Toronto prospects number two and four, per mlb.com, Austin Martin and Simeon Woods-Richardson.

Martin is a shortstop/outfielder who has a 2022 Eta. He was the Blue Jays’ first-round pick in 2020. Basically, think of him as Royce Lewis. Woods-Richardson is only 20 years old but was drafted by the Mets back in 2018. He was part of the return to the Blue Jays in the Marcus Strowman deal, and is now part of a second blockbuster business.

2021

Jose Berrios

In the midst of a disappointing 2021 season, the Minnesota Twins have gone into sell mode by starting trading pitcher Jose Berios for the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.

Toronto confirmed the move, noting that the Twins would receive shortstop Austin Martin and pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson in exchange for Berios.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal first reported the agreement, with ESPN’s Jeff Passon relaying the return, describing it as a “massive race”.

There were high expectations of Twins coming this season. He made the season three of the last four seasons, including back-to-back American League Central titles in 2019 and 2020.
