He made his professional debut that season for the Gulf Coast Twins of the rookie-level Gulf Coast League and in August the rookie-level Appalachians. Martin is a shortstop/outfielder who has a 2022 Eta. He was the Blue Jays’ first-round pick in 2020. Basically, think of him as Royce Lewis. Woods-Richardson is only 20 years old but was drafted by the Mets back in 2018. In the midst of a disappointing 2021 season, the Minnesota Twins have gone into sell mode by starting trading pitcher Jose Berios for the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.
Toronto confirmed the move, noting that the Twins would receive shortstop Austin Martin and pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson in exchange for Berios.
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal first reported the agreement, with ESPN’s Jeff Passon relaying the return, describing it as a “massive race”.
There were high expectations of Twins coming this season. He made the season three of the last four seasons, including back-to-back American League Central titles in 2019 and 2020.
