Fantasy football:

Breaking news on Wednesday morning: Aaron Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

That means Jordan Love will get the start. But will the former first-round pick out of Utah State in 2020 be good against a terrible Chiefs D?

We’ll find out.

But for those in fantasy football, you may have Rodgers on your roster but not a starter to replace him. That’s what this list is for, and yes, we’ll put Love on the list as well.

Covid:

Love is scheduled to make his first NFL start Sunday at the Kansas City Chiefs, while starter Aaron Rodgers and third-stringer Kurt Benkert remain on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Love spoke Friday for the first time since Rodgers’ diagnosis, wearing a mask at the Lambeau Field podium as part of what he said were extra precautions this week. He told reporters that he is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

“I was a little shocked but not crazy shocked,” Love said about Rodgers’ diagnosis. “Just because with Kurt testing positive earlier in the week, I kind of figured something might happen in the quarterback room.

So, yes, with Aaron Rodgers out after a positive COVID-19 test, there is certainly a lot on the line for No. 10 against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, when he’ll make his first NFL start.

I’m not sure anyone really knows if Love is ready for this stage. As Packers coach Matt LaFleur said this week, “Well, we’ll find out, right?” We can recite his preseason statistics (completed 24 of 35 passes for 271 yards with one touchdown and one interception in two games this past August), but it is hard to assess how well he will perform in a regular-season game against the reigning AFC champions with a five-star quarterback on the other sideline.
