After firing his tee shot on the final hole, the world No 2 followed the 18th fairway, only to see two timid kids run away from the ball the Spaniard was playing. Despite the chaos, Rahm clearly saw the funny side of the situation, and revealed all while talking to the media.

After a brief delay to drop a new ball and take another drop as a grand stand was in his way, Rahm found the 18th beat with his approach. He then did a 21-foot burial for a birdie to end the day in the red number with an opening 69.
“I’m really glad someone saw the ball before,” Rahm said. “We knew exactly where it was. Outside the tee I was comfortable. I was behind all the trees. . . .
