Wild thing
Jon Moxley recently revealed that he was supposed to use “Wild Thing” for his entry in AEW: Revolution, but this could not happen due to lack of rights in time.
“Wild Thing” is a 1965 chartbuster by The Trogues, which Jon Moxley has been using as his theme music for the past few months. Previously, Japanese deathmatch wrestling legend Atsushi Onita had used this song as his entrance music.
At Revolution 2021, Jon Moxley lost to AEW Champion Kenny Omega in an Exploding Barbed Wire match, a bet that is Onita’s brainchild.
Speaking on the Cinci 3:60 podcast, Jon Moxley revealed that leading up to the revolution, Tony Khan came up with the idea of using the song for Moxley’s entrance, noting the comparison between him and Onita. However, the plan did not proceed as expected as AEW could not secure the rights in time.
Theme song wild thing
However, there are some occasions where WWE or AEW go against that idea, paying for a big song from a band to create a big moment. These songs generally grab the audience well as it is something that fans are familiar with from outside just wrestling.
Jon Moxley’s original AEW theme song was not licensed, but decided to change things up as the company started using “Wild Thing”. The song fits Moxley perfectly, as he is someone who lives by the beat of his own drum, and will happily go wild whenever he needs to.
The audience is able to sing at points as well, which adds to the atmosphere when they enter the arena. It’s a big part of things, and it helps her look like a big deal. The song isn’t complicated and is just a straight rock track, with the best possible soundtrack to it.
