Return
AEW star Jon Moxley is back after more than two months away from pro wrestling.
AEW has announced that 36-year-old Moxley (real name Jonathan Good) will return on this Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite. This would be Moxley’s first television appearance since entering a rehab program to help battle issues with alcohol abuse.
AEW President and CEO Tony Khan announced on November 2 that Moxley has decided to enter an inpatient alcohol treatment program. Khan wrote that AEW was supporting Moxley however they could and was looking forward to seeing when Moxley would finally be able to return.
Before his hiatus, Moxley was to face Orange Cassidy in the semifinals of AEW’s World Title Eliminator tournament. It appeared that there were plans for Moxley to defeat Cassidy and face Brian Danielson in the final of the tournament in full gear. Instead, Danielson defeated Moxley’s replacement Miro.
Moxley is a former world champion for AEW, holding the title from February to December 2020.
Fan
As mentioned, Jon Moxley returned to AEW Dynamite after completely three months away from the ring and TV.
Moxley had not been seen on AEW TV since early November, when Tony Khan announced that Moxley had entered an inpatient alcohol treatment program.
Khan confirmed that the choice was entirely Moxley’s, confirming fans after the AEW president announced that he was proud to call Moxley his friend.
Moxley returned to AEW Dynamite last night, opening the show by cutting a passionate and emotional promo for fans.
However, things didn’t get off to the best of things, with a fan in the crowd shouting that he wanted to kick Moxley out of the ring, which he called a “piece of garbage”.

But there have been reports about John that have some fans worried and throwing their support behind him. What happened to Jon Moxley? And why is his wife thanking fans for their kind words? She made a huge life decision and is now getting the support she needs.
Real name
Some wrestlers have a personal story behind their ring names. Kevin Stein became Kevin Owens in WWE as a tribute to his son Owen, who in turn was named after Stein’s childhood hero, Owen Hart. Colby Lopez chose to be called Seth Rollins for Henry Rollins, the vocalist of the punk band Black Flag.
Jon Moxley, however, uses a name that someone else came up with a decade and a half ago.
Moxley (real name Jonathan Good) revealed on the first episode of AEW’s new official podcast Unrestricted that he was given that name in 2004, moments before his first match in his hometown of Cincinnati.
Good, who was in high school at the time, and another aspiring wrestler at Les Thatcher’s wrestling academy were booked into the tag team of “stoner football players” who wore soccer jerseys and soccer pants to the ring and airheads. Worked like jocks. But they didn’t come up with a name, so when Good learned he was actually performing in front of an audience for the first time, he needed a fast.
Wife
AEW President and CEO Tony Khan announced that Jon Moxley (real name Jonathan Good) will be entering an inpatient alcoholism treatment program. Khan broke the news to wrestling fans on Tuesday night, noting that he had the star’s blessings to share the news.
Jon Moxley has allowed me to share with you that he is entering an inpatient alcoholism treatment program. John is a dear member of the AEW family. We all stand with him and Renee, and his family and friends, as he turns his attention to recovery. November 3, 2021
