John Daly and pedestrian are not usually words that appear in the same sentence. Yet it’s safe to say that the golf folk hero has had a walking season on the PGA Tour Champions to date.

He and his son ‘Little John’, who hit the ground running in the family challenge at the end of the year, were in much conversation for their striking and colorful pants. Disqualification
Daly has had a pretty average season among the PGA Tour Champions so far. It included a disqualification that came up last week at Region Tradition at TPC Sugarloaf when he forgot to sign his score card. Oh.
An ugly little four-put was also thrown in for good measure and Daly has not commented on being decued on the senior circuit for the first time.
Of course, Daly has seen his fair share of tournament exits in his heyday on the PGA Tour. Five times, to be precise and the last time he was disqualified, Valero came in 2003 at the Texas Open.
In his first round at the 2022 PGA Championship, Daly found something special and turned back the clock.
He found himself at 3-under par after 10 holes and was among the early leaders to include a composed Rory McIlroy.
Daly hit the first tee shot of the second Men’s Major of the Year in Oklahoma.
The 1991 champion – who only made his tee time that week after sneaking in as an alternate and driving through the night – nearly hid his second shot in the first par-4 but did with a birdie.
He was playing with American Sean Mitchell and Korea’s Ye Yang.
Daly was paired with Woods at the 2007 PGA Championship. That week it was 107 degrees.
