Still, Voto is in the mix to make it through, according to the Jeff Jaffe War score system. He’s ranked 12th all-time among first basemen, and the only two ahead of him in the Hall of Fame are Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera, and both are a cinch to make.

According to the Hall of Fame Monitor and Hall of Fame Standard Test, created by renowned sabermetrician Bill James, the vote falls short of the criterion.

Still, Voto is in the mix to make it through, according to the Jeff Jaffe War score system. He’s ranked 12th all-time among first basemen, and the only two ahead of him in the Hall of Fame are Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera, and both are a cinch to make.

If you consider his career OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage) of .933, which ranks 36th in Major League Baseball history, Voto should at least be considered. The only players ahead of him on the list and not in the Hall of Fame are Barry Bonds (tainted with performance enhancing substances), Mike Trout (still active), Manny Ramirez (played under the cloud of the PED era), Mark McGwire ( see Bonds cause), Todd Helton (played in uber-hitter friendly Colorado) and Lance Berkman.
