Does have a child
Britt and Joel Selwood have announced that they are expecting their first child.
The 34-year-old Geelong captain and his wife revealed the upcoming birth on social media after years of fertility struggles.
“Our dreams have come true,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Joel and I are grateful to be able to share that we have a little baby coming into the world. We cannot make this announcement without acknowledging those who are struggling with infertility or loss.
“I know how much my heart breaks every time I see a pregnancy post and if you’re feeling like this right now my heart is really out for you. These past few years have changed me forever.
“For anyone who has just lost hope, I’ve been there and I’m thinking of you, and I hope that one day soon, you will find your miracle.”
Brothers
Selwood is the youngest of four boys – all of whom played in the AFL, and his mother says there was nothing stopping him from joining his brothers when he was younger.
“When he went to Osick, he shouldn’t have gone to Osick and he was there and when I came back to pick him up, he was in the next group!” said Mary.
“It happened for a couple of weeks that [big brother] Troy and Adam said, ‘No, he’s not coming anymore’.
“But we didn’t stop him. He just had a real talent, he’s very talented.”
Selwood’s pregnant wife Britt said she cannot express in words what victory means to the captain and the club.
“I think my feelings have said it all – I haven’t stopped crying!” he said.
“I’m so happy for him.”
Selwood had a moment to remember pre-game when he took out former teammate Gary Ablett Jr.’s son via the banner.
Games
Sellwood, who played 355 games in 16 seasons, was a four-time Premiership player, six-time All-Australian, four-time AFLPA Most Courageous Player award winner, three-time best and fair time and captained the most VFL/AFL games.
