On 12 November 2013, Kivirantae made his Liga debut during the 2013–14 season playing with Jokerit against Espoo Blues.

Injury
Forward Joel Kivirantae will be “out for a while”, Stars coach Rick Bones said on Tuesday morning. Stars placed Kiviranta on injured reserve on Tuesday (retrospective on Sunday) with a lower body injury.
