What happened to
The situation is not ideal. Just a few games into the 2021-22 NBA season, Joel Embiid’s health is already a concern for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Unfortunately for Philadelphia, the positive vibes about Embiid’s health didn’t last long. During Philadelphia’s first game of the season against New Orleans, Embiid twisted the same right knee during a confrontation with Pelicans center Jonas Valencianus. Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has tested positive for COVID-19 and is expected to miss several games, US media reports said on Monday.
ESPN and The Athletic website said the Cameroon international returned a positive COVID-19 test early Monday and entered the league’s health and safety protocols.
The 27-year-old power forward had already been rested for Monday’s game between the Sixers and New York Knicks, which will be followed by a game against the NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.
Although the positive case means Embiid is now expected to be sidelined for “several games”, ESPN reported.
Embiid has been a key figure in the Sixers’ impressive start to the season, which has seen them rise to the top of the Eastern Conference standings with an 8-2 record.
Embiid leads the Sixers this season with 21.4 points per game and 9.4 rebounds.

To his credit Embiid has tried to defuse the situation.

But despite what he says, it’s clear that he’s suffocating. He finished last time against the Atlanta Hawks with 19 points and five rebounds on 5 of 13 off the field, and last week had just 14 points and six rebounds on 2 of 7 shootings against the New York Knicks.
It is also clear that Simmons’ absence was largely due to the pain he struggled with. Now finally he is getting a much-needed break.
