After romantically pursuing Rihanna for years, it seems Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid is “on to the next one.” Back in 2014, the Kansas product fired off multiple tweets in an attempt to woo the “Disturbia” artist.
Reality struck when Embiid’s dreams came to a halt after being turned down by — who many assumed to be Rih-Rih — tweeting, “This is the truth… I was trying to get with this famous girl and she said, ” Come back when you’re a All Star” bruhh.”
Is playing tonight:
As the Philadelphia 76ers get set to take on the Memphis Grizzlies, they will be without their star big man leader in Joel Embiid.
The big fella will miss the game due to a planned rest, but the timing of the rest causes some confusion.
Embiid has played in 21 straight games so it makes some sense to rest him, but choosing to rest him against a very good Grizzlies team is confusing considering the quality of the opponent. It would have made more sense to have him rest against a team like the Sacramento Kings on Saturday.
Why is not playing:
The Sixers will certainly have their hands full when they take on this Grizzlies team. Memphis guard Ja Morant has turned into a legitimate star in this league and Steven Adams will be a handful down low without Embiid.
There will be a lot of pressure on the others to step up and help the Sixers get it done at home.
