Injury
As reported by Sportsnet.ca, Edmondson will be ruled out for 2-3 weeks due to an undisclosed injury.
Given the expected length of Edmondson’s absence, it would not be surprising to see the 28-year-old Blueliner start the season on injured reserve. Once healthy, Edmondson, who scored 13 points and 98 hits in 55 games last campaign, should slot into a top-four role for the Canadiens.
Crop top
The truth of the crop top movement is that it has been around since the 1970s. Cropped shirts were originally made by men for men and were part of men’s fashion for years before women began wearing them. It began in the early ’70s with lifters cutting off the bottom of their shirts to achieve the GYM dress code, which banned shirtless men. The crop top soon spread to other athletic activities such as track and field, cross country running and amateur football. Crop tops became common with disco dance clubs and urban counter culture movements in the late ’70s. The golden age of boys’ crop tops dates back to the 1980s when clothing retailers from brands such as Nike marketed cropped T-shirts and sports jerseys to teens and young men. Hollywood movies glorified men in cropped shirts in movies .
Contract
The Montreal Canadiens have announced that defenseman Joel Edmondson has been signed to a four-year contract totaling $14 million. The annual cap hit comes to $3.5 million per year.
Edmondson, whose negotiating rights were acquired on September 12 in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick from the Carolina Hurricanes, posted seven goals and 13 assists in 68 games with the Hurricanes in the brief 2019–20 regular season. He scored one goal in four games when the season resumed, before being dropped from the lineup due to an undisclosed injury. Edmondson’s contract has a 10-team no-trade clause, but he will not have to be protected in the Seattle Kraken’s upcoming expansion draft.
Trade Blues
Joel Edmondson was to play in Sunday afternoon’s preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was not.
Maybe that’s why.
This afternoon, ahead of the Blues pre-season game against the Dallas Stars, the Blues sent Joel Edmondson and Dominic Bock (as well as the 2021 7th Round pick) to Justin Faulk for the Carolina Hurricanes and fifth round pick in this year’s draft. Faulk was in his final season of a contract before entering UFA status; Edmondson signed a one-year deal for $3,100,000 before earning UFA status. The contract is a pay cut for the Hurricanes, as Faulk’s contract for this season hits $4,833,333.
