Rejects trump:
Podcast host Joe Rogan is a highly influential pop culture figure whose views on COVID-19 vaccines and use of racial epithets are just two of many controversies around his popular show.
More recently, he has expressed new admiration for right-wing political candidates despite previously affirming his left-wing leanings. In one interview, Rogan addressed whether he would have Donald Trump as a guest.
Trump:
After inking a record $100 million deal with Spotify, Rogan’s regular long-form internet broadcast — featuring dozens of politicians, adventurers, scientists and comedians — became an undeniable force in the American news conversation.
But the controversy over his selection of guests, particularly leading cardiologist Dr Peter McCullough and virologist Dr Robert Malone in January, propelled him to new levels of notoriety.
Desantis:
Excerpts from the podcast were shared on social media, with some taking his views on the former president and others, including conservative firebrand Alex Jones, out of context.
The 54-year-old comedian previously noted things he has discussed with professionals — that were once criticised as disinformation — have now become part of official health updates.
Is a Republican:
“The problem I have with the term misinformation, especially today, is that many of the things that we thought of as misinformation a short while ago, are now accepted fact,” said in an Instagram update in January.
“For instance, eight months ago, if you said if you get vaccinated you can still get Covid and spread Covid, you would be removed from certain social media platforms. Now that’s accepted as fact.”
