Joe Judge: Son Don Bosco| Mississippi State| Post game
Son Don Bosco:
On Dec. 4, the Mississippi State alum appeared in an Ole Miss sweatshirt and bucket hat after losing a friendly wager with tight end Evan Engram (a former Mississippi star) on the outcome of the Egg Bowl between the two rivals.
Thursday, Judge was dressed in a Don Bosco Prep sweatshirt for his pre-practice Zoom conference. Given that Giants safety Jabrill Peppers once played at the Ramsey school, NorthJersey.com inquired if the rookie coach’s attire again was contingent upon a bet.
Mississippi State:
The search officially started when Joe Moorhead was fired Friday morning.
Louisiana head coach Billy Napier was expected to be the guy to replace Moorhead, but most of that speculation has died down after Napier publicly said he was not a candidate for the position.
According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, Mississippi State has spoken to former Auburn coach Gene Chizik and Army coach Jeff Monken. Rittenberg said the top choices, however, are Joe Judge and Todd Grantham.
Post game:
Despite his unceremonious exit after a 4-13 season which spiraled out of control in the final six weeks, Judge expressed his gratitude to the Giants, their fanbase, his players and coaches in a statement released to NorthJersey.com’s Art Stapleton.
“As I reflect on my tenure with the Giants, I want to express how truly grateful I am for the opportunity to be the head coach of the New York Giants,” Judge said. “Thank you to the Mara and Tisch families, to the organization and incredible support staff and to the fans — proud, loyal fans who rival any fanbase in sports with their passion and devotion. It was a privilege to represent these people during the past two years. Thank you for showing up week-in and week-out to support our team.”
