Joseph Howarth Ingalls is an Australian professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association. He also represents the Australian national team. He primarily plays in the short forward and shooting guard positions. He is the all-time leader of the Utah Jazz in the 3 Pointers.

Age

Born in the Adelaide suburb of Happy Valley, He is 34 years old.  Ingalls played junior basketball for the Southern Tigers and attended Springbank Secondary College (then called Pasadena High School).[2] Ingalls met future Boomers teammates Brad Newly and Patty Mills. He attended both Lake Gininder College and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra. He played basketball for the AIS in the South East Australian Basketball League from 2005 to 2006. Along with basketball, Ingalls also played Australian rules football and cricket in his younger years but dropped both sports to focus on basketball.

Ingalls’ two basketball goals as a boy were to play for the Adelaide 36ers and Australia. Ingalls said of the situation, “The minimum wage at the time was $20-$22,000 and while money was not a primary concern for me, they offered me a deal of $12,500 per two years, plus two season tickets.” Ingalls had several other contract bids to consider, all offering at least the minimum and many of them offering additional incentives. His decision not to sign with the 36ers came after his contract with the club came with a misspelling of his first name as “Joseph”. This did not leave a glaring impression on Ingalls or his family, so he turned his attention to Melbourne.

He is 34 years old.  On March 17, 2006, Ingalls signed a multi-year deal with the South Dragons of the National Basketball League, becoming the first player to sign with the club. In the Dragons’ debut game, the 18-year-old Ingalls made league history by scoring the most points by an Australian on debut – 29 while shooting 11-in-15 from the field. His outstanding first season earned him the NBL Rookie of the Year Award. [7] In 34 games in 2006–07, he averaged 15.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

In 2008–09, Ingalls helped lead the Dragons to a minor premiership, earning All-NBL Third Team honors. He helped the Dragons win their first NBL championship with a 3–2 Grand Finals series win over the Melbourne Tigers. However, two months after winning their first title, the club closed due to financial difficulties. [9] In 38 games for the club in 2008–09, Ingels averaged 13.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

In 102 games for the Dragons in three seasons, Ingalls averaged 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

 Ingalls was acquired by the Utah Jazz on October 27, 2014, after spending the preseason with the Los Angeles Clippers.
