Joe Flacco: Game log| Highlights| Delaware| Week 1

NFL history books can look back on the Baltimore Ravens’ victory in Super Bowl XLVII and base the narrative on retired linebacker Ray Lewis and the inspiration he brought to the 10-win team to start the post-season.

Of course, it would not be historically correct to tell the story.

The 2012–13 playoffs were about Joe Flaco, a once-arbitered, unapologetic quarterback who used four postseason games to stage historically significant performances—all of the NFL’s elite players in his position. While consolidating its position as one of the

Yes, that mythical, undefined, and completely fictional hierarchy of quarterbacks added its newest member on Sunday night.

Throwing 287 yards, three touchdowns and no interception in New Orleans, Flacco closed out a postseason run that would make an NFL quarterback the greatest ever.

His final stat line? Only 1,140 yards, 11 touchdowns, zero interceptions and a passer rating of 117.2—each figure represents the best he’s been in since this season. In fact, no quarterback was within 12 rating points of 300 yards, five touchdowns, or Flacco’s final post-season numbers.

The New York Jets looked like the better team during their first joint practice with the Atlanta Falcons
Ahead of their presidential game Monday (8 p.m. ET) at MetLife Stadium, the New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons are meeting for two joint drills at the Jets’ facility in Florham Park. The first of those practices was held on Friday, and the Jets held the lead throughout the scrimmage period.

Running behind Bryce Hall, the rookie recorded one of the day’s best highlights, breaking loose with a right edge for a 75-yard touchdown. Thanks to key blocks from right tackle George Fant and tight end Tyler Conklin, the edge is left clean to bring Hall face-to-face into the space. Hall mocks the cornerback and is out of the race.

Delaware

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, one of the most successful student-athletes in University of Delaware history, and his wife, Dana, have made a significant gift to the future of UD athletics—the biggest ever UD football alumnus in the NFL.

“Football and family,” said Flacco, when asked what matters most in his life. The Flacos’ four children inspire the couple to give back to Joe’s alma mater.

“We are at a point in our lives where we are raising our children and thinking about their education,” said Flacco, class of 2008. “It has allowed me to reflect on how important UD was to me in my development. I am thrilled to be part of making the university even better for generations to come.”

Week 1

The Jets are starting Joe Flacco in the team’s season opener against the Ravens on Sunday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Zack Wilson is progressing well after suffering a bone injury and torn meniscus during the first preseason game on August 12, but he’s still not ready to take the field.

A few days after the injury, he had successful knee surgery, which included a meniscus trim. He was expected to recover in two to four weeks, but it looks like it will be closer to a month.

As a result, Flacco will lead New York on Sunday against his former team. Flaco spent the first 11 years of his career in Baltimore where he won the Super Bowl after the 2012 season and was named the sport’s MVP. He was traded to the Broncos in February ’19 but signed with the Jets in May ’20.
