James Arthur Boehm (/ˈbeɪhaɪm/ BAY-hyme; born November 17, 1944) is an American college basketball coach who is the head coach of the Syracuse Orange men’s team of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Boehm has guided Orange to ten Big East Conference regular season championships, five Big East Tournament championships, and 34 NCAA Tournament appearances, including five Final Four appearances and three in national title games. Performances are included. In those games, Orange was defeated by a last-second jump shot by Keith Smart in 1987 and Kentucky to Indiana in 1996, before defeating Kansas in 2003 with All-American Carmelo Anthony.

Prostate cancer

Boehm was having problems with an enlarged prostate and drug treatments were not easing the symptoms.
“I went to the best surgeon everyone recommended—that was Dr. Catalona—thinking I was a candidate for TURP (prostate gland reduction),” Boehm said.

Boehm served as an assistant coach for the United States men’s national basketball team at the 1990 FIBA World Championship, 2006 FIBA World Championship, 2008 Summer Olympics, 2010 FIBA World Championship, 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics. In addition, Boehm served as president of the USA Basketball 2009–12 Men’s Junior National Committee, as well as as president of the 2007–08 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). where he currently serves on the Board of Directors. Boehm was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in September 2005.
As a result of the Syracuse Athletics scandal, his 101 victories were vacated by the NCAA in 2015.
Boehm announced in 2015 that he would retire in March 2018. However, after the departure of his longtime assistant coach and expected successor Mike Hopkins, Boehm extended his contract with Syracuse for an undisclosed period beyond 2017.
