“The FBI is conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity in the area,” FBI special agent and public affairs officer Siobhan Johnson told USA Today. He declined to comment further.
Harris, who shot to national fame when she featured in Netflix’s recent “Cheer” documentary, has not been charged with criminal charges. Harris, 21, did not respond to a request for comment.
The criminal investigation is based on the allegations made by the 14-year-old twin brothers. In interviews with USA Today, the boys described a pattern of harassment, both online and in cheer competitions, that began when they were 13 and Harris was 19. He said this continued for over a year.
Who is
A former star of the popular Netflix documentary “Cheer” pleaded guilty to sex offense charges in federal court on Thursday.
Jerry Harris, 22, of Naperville, Illinois, pleaded guilty to engaging in interstate travel for the purpose of obtaining child pornography and engaging in illegal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 15.
Harris, who appeared on the first season of “Cheer,” faced several other sexual misconduct allegations. As part of his plea agreement, he pleaded guilty to the rest of the charges as prescribed offences.
Harris will be sentenced on June 28. He faces between five and 50 years in prison.
The charges against Harris, who was the breakout star of the first season of “Cheer,” first surfaced in September 2020, when he was arrested and charged with a count of making child pornography.
