Aew
It’s been almost six months since Jeff Cobb made his appearance on AEW Dynamite. The top free agent was recruited by the Inner Circle as their mercenary, knocking out Jon Moxley before his match with Chris Jericho in Revolution.
It was clarified that he had not signed a contract but the door was left open. However, he has not returned to the company since then. Now, we know why.
Fightful Select (subscription required) is reporting that Cobb thinks highly of AEW but doesn’t want to travel to Florida amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Florida, of course, has become a hot spot for the virus as the state’s handling of the pandemic leaves much to be desired.
Filming of All Elite Wrestling continues at Daly Place in Jacksonville, Florida, which means it will take some time to see Cobb return.
Lucha Underground
“I love it just for the simple fact that if another WCW comes around it’s going to get kind of boring with Lucha Underground because it’s different and unique and (as you mentioned) the characters get killed off. And I think it’s something cool and something different. It’s a sure shot in the arm that people are looking for.”
Finisher
Prior to joining NJPW, Cobb wrestled in Lucha Underground (as masked wrestler Matanza Cueto), Ring of Honor (ROH) and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG). He is a former PWG World Champion and winner of PWG’s 2018 Battle of Los Angeles tournament and a one-time World Tag Team Champion along with Matt Riddle. He is also the former ever Openweight Champion in NJPW and the former ROH Television Champion in ROH.
As an amateur wrestler, Cobb represented Guam at the 2004 Summer Olympics, where he became the nation’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony and competed in the men’s light heavyweight freestyle category. He transitioned to professional wrestling in 2009.
Net Worth
Jeff Cobb has a net worth of around $1.5 million.
