As he entered his third season in the league, in 2021, Ferguson said he was picking up on new techniques from some of the team’s experienced defensive linemen such as Justin Houston, Pernell McPhee, Derek Wolff, Tyce Bowser and Calles Campbell.
He said he is ready to “dominate” his chances on the field.
Ferguson said, “As long as I have a chance to keep playing, as long as I have a chance to continue my moves and get out of here, I will keep working, working to get better every day.”

Ferguson was the Ravens’ third-rounder in 2019, becoming a star player for the Louisiana Tech and making his way into the NFL. In three seasons with the Ravens, Ferguson made a total of 67 tackles and 4.5 sacks.
Ferguson was C-USA Defensive Player of the Year in 2018 and earned first-team All-C-USA honors on two separate occasions—setting school and NCAA dismissal records in the process.
After earning MVP honors at the 2018 Hawaii Bowl, the Louisiana native was selected by the Ravens as the 85th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, spent three seasons in Baltimore and involved himself with the city. The Ravens organization issued the following statement after Ferguson’s death:
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Jaylon Ferguson. He was a kind, respectful young man with a great smile and infectious personality. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Jaylon’s family and friends as we mourn that A life lost too soon.”

According to Baltimore Police, Northern District officials responded to reports of a “suspicious death” in connection with the passing of Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jaylon Ferguson on Tuesday night. The Police Department told TMZ that “investigators are not ruling out the possibility of an overdose.”
Officers were called to a house on the 400 block of Ilchester Avenue in the city’s Harwood neighborhood. Upon arrival, they found the medics providing treatment to Ferguson, who was unresponsive.
According to the Baltimore Sun, Baltimore Police spokeswoman Nikki Fenoy said in a statement: “Ferguson never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead at the scene by doctors.”
