North Melbourne’s Wanted Pick 1 Jason Horne-Francis has reportedly met Port Adelaide and ruled out a move to Adelaide Crow.

Horn-Francis stunned the football world by requesting a trade-back in South Australia less than 12 months after landing on Arden Street on Sunday night.

Speaking on AFL trade radio, Port Adelaide great Ken Cornes only confirmed the 19-year-old’s bid to move to Alberton and his meeting with senior club officials.

“I can tell you (footy boss) Chris Davis, (coach) Ken Hinckley, Jason Horne-Francis and their manager Ben Williams met last week,” Korns revealed.

“Port Adelaide was really impressed with him and his character, realizing he had some challenges this year and we saw him play – he was dropped a couple of times, his contract talks were put on hold, some disciplinary action and was suspended.

“But the prospect of bringing Jason Horn-Francis, Zak Butters and Connor Rosie into that midfield with Ollie Wines for Port Adelaide is something they are clearly incredibly excited to be chasing.

Horn-Francis, the No. 1 selection in the 2021 national draft, was traded to Power on Monday after just a troubled year at the Kangaroos.

The ultra competitive 19-year-old clashed with Kangaroo teammates several times this year and was even dropped for a game in August for failing to live up to the team’s standards.

Horn-Francis is confident that he will grow from experience and become more professional in his preparation.

“It’s been tough. There have been challenges throughout the year,” Horne-Francis said.

“On my part, I probably didn’t even do everything right.

“Footy is played on your mind a lot. I’ve learned there’s a lot more to the mental side.

“You have to prepare for it. You can’t just get out there and play briskly.
