As ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports, the Nuggets and the Thunder have agreed to a trade that would send Jaimichael Greene to Oklahoma City. As part of the deal Green will pick up his $8.2MM player option for 2022/23.
According to Wojnarowski, Oklahoma City will also receive a 2027 first-round protected pick from Denver, while the Nuggets will receive a No. 30 pick in this year’s draft, as well as a 2023 second-round pick and 2024 second-rounder.
The Thunder entered the week with four picks in this year’s draft top 34 – they also control No. 2, 12 and 34. They weren’t always likely to bring in four rookies for the 2022/23 season, so it comes as no surprise that they decided to drop one of their picks. Dropping the number 30 would allow them to land a future first-rounder and potentially useful player in the green, who will be on an expired contract.

Jaimichael Greene was born in Montgomery, Alabama to Rita and Alonzo Greene. He has a sister, Kemche, and a brother, who died when Jamaichel was two years old. Greene attended St. Jude Educational Institute in Montgomery and led the school to the Class A state championships in 2006 and 2008. He was chosen as the MVP of the tournament in 2006. Greene was named a 2008 Alabama Mr. Basketball, three-time Alabama Sports Writers Association. Player of the Year and 2008 McDonald’s All-American. He also played for the USA National U18 team in Argentina at the 2008 FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship. Greene founded Forever My Brother Keeper in 2015, a non-profit foundation aimed at helping children in the Montgomery area.
