The Pirates selected Talon as the second overall pick in the 2010 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut in 2016. The Pirates traded Talon to the Yankees ahead of the 2021 season.

Injury

He was 14-10 in 191 innings. In 2019, Tailon’s season was cut short due to an arm injury, with him being called off for the rest of the season on August 2, 2019, as he would have to undergo surgery.

New Yankees starter Jameson Tallon, acquired in January trade with Pirates after missing 2020 season after Tommy John surgery, gets a call for some cue.

Jameson Talon signed a 1-year / $2,250,000 contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates, which includes $2,250,000 guaranteed and an annual average salary of $2,250,000. In 2021, Tailon will earn a base salary of $2,250,000, with a total salary of $2,250,000.

The Yankees acquired the 29-year-old Talon in exchange for four prospects on Sunday, reuniting the former Bucs and hoping to strengthen their staff with a right-hander who has gleaned power arsenal over the years. Talon is expected to be ready for Opening Day after Tommy John recovers from the second procedure.

Wife

Jameson Tellon’s girlfriend Claire Petratis traveled a lot lately. From November 2015, she flew to Houston, Boston, Jamaica, New York and California. At least two of those trips were holidays. However, it is possible that Claire originally hails from Atlanta as she appears there in a family photo with various happy faces.

She clearly has some close ties from home and college. Of course, Claire also lives in Pittsburgh most of the time because Jameson plays for the Pirates. In case you’re curious where she graduated college, she posed with her parents outside LSU in 2016. Jameson originally intended to attend Rice University, but pirates lured him with a signing bonus of $6.5 million.

Trade

The New York Yankees have acquired RHP Jameson Talon from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for RHP Roansy Contreras, INF Maikol Escotto, OF Canaan Smith and RHP Miguel Yajure. Chances are considered decent, all ranked in the Yankees’ top 21.

Notably, the Tailon has an average exhaust velocity of 90.2 mph in the first 12 starts, compared to just 86.8 mph in the last seven. Tailon is hitting his spots more often and throwing “better” attacks. His home run rate (1.30 hr/9 in the last seven matches) has decreased, as has his average exit velocity.

2020

While the rest of baseball has been called off by the national emergency created by the coronavirus pandemic, Talon is plugging in with his rehabilitation program. As Pittsburgh’s player representative, he was also prominently involved in the negotiations that led to the most recent final settlement between Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association. That deal left open the possibility of a regular season that extended in October or later.
