James Calvin White (born February 3, 1992) is an American former professional footballer who played his entire career for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football in Wisconsin and was selected by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Primarily used as a receiver, he holds the Super Bowl records for receptions and scores, which he set in Super Bowl LI. White has also been tied with Darren Sproles for the most receptions in a playoff game.

James White (1828–1890), pastoral and horse racing owner and breeder, was born on 19 July 1828 in Stroud, New South Wales, the eldest son of James White and his wife Sarah, née Crosman. His father had arrived in Sydney on 24 July 1826 in Fairfield as supervisor of the Australian Agricultural Company, and had acquired land in the Hunter River district, including Edinglassie near Muswellbrook. James was educated at The King’s School, Parramatta and West Maitland by the Rev. John Gregor. His father died in 1842 leaving £15,000 for probate and items worth of real estate to be divided equally between his seven sons and two daughters. James returned home to manage Edingalsee, Timor and Borruma on the Barwon River.

Playing with a heavy heart, the New England Patriots were unfortunately unable to reward with a win to drive back James White’s daring return to the gridiron. The dynamic veteran tragically lost his father, Tyrone, in a car accident last month and missed the team’s next two matches to mourn with his family.
The accident also left his mother, Lisa, hospitalized with serious injuries, and White provided some much-needed good news this week when he told reporters that his condition, though the emotional wound is still fresh, is steadily improving. .
Not that the shutdown will actually be any better in the wake of such a heart-wrenching tragedy, but authorities have reportedly made the arrest five weeks after the fatal accident. Daniel Tucker Chamblin of Hollywood, FL, was charged with vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving and speeding, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
College
White attended Wisconsin from 2010–2013. He was named the 2010 Big Ten Freshman of the Year. White ran for 1,052 yards and 14 touchdowns, leading the Badgers to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California in 2011. In the 2011 season, he had 713 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns to go with 15 receptions for 150 yards. In the 2012 season, he finished with 806 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, eight receptions, 132 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. On November 16, 2013, White ran for a career-high 205 yards against Indiana. Also, during that game, White set the Wisconsin record for the longest run from scrimmage (93 yards). In the 2013 season, he scored 1,444 rushing yards, 13 rushing touchdowns, 39 receptions, 300 receiving yards, and ended with two receiving touchdowns. White ran for games over 100 yards on 17 separate occasions during his college career, despite being separated for most of his career with John Clay, Monte Ball, and Melvin Gordon.
