After losing two matches in the ATP Cup, Duckworth suffered a five-set loss to Adrian Mannarino in the first round of the Australian Open. Soon after losing the Australian Open, Duckworth underwent hip surgery. In an interview with Tennis.com.au, Duckworth explained that the doctor “had seen the injury only once before in thousands of hip surgeries.”
