The Bengals picked LSU star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase with the fifth pick the NFL Draft on Thursday night. The 21-year-old set SEC records with Joe Burrow throwing him the football in 2019.
Natural ball-catcher. Comfortable tracking the ball on the move and over his shoulder, and he displays very good hand-eye coordination. Will reach out and snatch throws over the middle. Able to win deep and vertically thanks to his body control and hand-eye coordination as opposed to being an overwhelming speedster. Can consistently adjust for throws away from his body at all three levels.
Drops:
As expected, Ja’Marr Chase didn’t need long to shake off the drop issues that plagued his last few days.
After a trio of drops during a preseason game and some other notable drops during a practice over the weekend, Chase got back to being his usual self on Monday.
There was never a big reason to worry about a rough patch for Chase, as that’s what the summer and preseason is all about — and he didn’t need long to shake off the issues.
