How long is out for

It’s nice to know he’s come a long way, but it sure isn’t even close to returning to the Nuggets PG floor. Murray is known for his high-energy style of play and if he is not able to change the direction of his kind, then Murray will not be the same player.

There’s currently no timetable for when he might be back on the hardwoods for the Nuggets, but their roster has been able to stay away for some time. With the likes of Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr. along with MVP Nikola Jokic, Denver has a very strong team that will look to score another playoff run and with Murray eventually returning at some point this season, they Will definitely be a scary sight.

In 48 games in 2020-21 for the Nuggets, Murray averaged 21.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 40% shooting from downtown.

Injury timeline

Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. knows he needs to step up next season, especially with Jamal Murray’s condition still unclear as he recovers from injury.

To recall, Murray suffered from a torn ACL in his left knee last April, effectively ending his 2020-21 season with the Nuggets. He had a successful surgery a few days later, but Denver did not give a specific timeline for his return and the team listed him as out indefinitely.

A typical recovery for a torn ACL usually lasts seven to nine months. But as noted by the Mayo Clinic, it can take eight to 12 months for athletes to be able to return to their respective sports. Keeping that timeline in mind, Murray is more than likely to miss a large portion of the season—if not all, depending on the progress of his rehab and if he doesn’t suffer any setbacks.

Porter himself admitted that Murray would not be with the Nuggets for much of the campaign, which is why he needed to step up not only as a player but also as a vocal leader.

Return date

The third-seeded Denver Nuggets lost Game 1 to the 6th-seeded Portland Trail Blazers, causing everyone to question Jamal Murray. In the final minutes of an April regular-season game against the Golden State Warriors, the Nuggets point guard landed awkwardly after a tried basket. He was taken to the locker room and we later learned that he had torn his ACL.

Given Jamal Murray’s outbursts in last year’s NBA playoffs, it’s understandable why fans are asking about his return. He missed several 40- and 50-point games and led the Denver Nuggets to two consecutive 3–1 comebacks.

Jamal Murray’s ACL tear happened at the worst possible time. The Denver Nuggets were on the rise and were about to put on another show in the NBA playoffs. Murray’s injury caused many analysts to rule out Nuggets opportunities after the season, and the burden of performance fell on Nikola Jokic.
