Jamahal Hill: Arm injury| Record| Knockout| Next Fight

Last Saturday, Jamahal Hill designed a highlight reel performance and declared himself in the rest of the light heavyweight division. Instead, he wound up in the emergency room.

Hill faced jiu-jitsu expert Paul Craig in the main card opener of UFC 263, but things didn’t go as planned for “Sweet Dreams”. Early in the first round, Craig pulled guard over Hill and immediately began attacking Hill’s arm. Craig was able to secure a deep armbar and although Hill attempted to defend, he was unable to escape and Craig eventually popped Hill’s arm. It looked like a terrible injury but according to the person, everything is fine now.

“It’s not as bad as it looked,” Hill told TMZ Sports. “There’s no pause. My elbow was badly bruised but they were able to put it back in and the doctor said it’s rock solid. It’s doing all the movement it needs, it’s just a little It’s going to be bad for a while. I’ll call my doctor when I get back home and we’re about to leave. Hopefully I can be back in real soon.

Knockout

Thiago Santos and Jamahal Hill take part in the light heavyweight event tonight (Saturday, August 6, 2022) from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. After a back-and-forth battle, Hill secured his third-straight knockout victory.

Santos started the match with a pair of low kicks. Hill was suppressed, fired swiftly but failed to hit his target quickly. Santos landed a counter hook and kicks the leg once again. Santos sank in an actual takedown attempt, working along the fence for a double. Hill managed to keep his balance after attempting an ankle pick, and Santos continued to press him into the cage until the action was interrupted by Cup’s knee.

Back in the center, Santos releases a string of kicks. Hill proceeded non-stop and landed a few jabs. Hill went into a counter shot and a calf kick in the closing seconds of a competitive opening round.

Next Fight

A light heavyweight main event between Thiago Santos and Jamahal Hill is currently in the works for the upcoming UFC card on August 6.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotional plans confirmed the matchup for MMA Fighting on Wednesday. The MMA junkie initially reported on the fight. A city and venue for the event have not yet been confirmed.

The fight will serve as a third consecutive headliner for Santos as the Brazilian looks to get back on track in the 205-pound division. Santos has led just 1-4 in his last five matches and his only win came in a decision against Johnny Walker.

Most recently, Santos fell to Russian contender Magomed Ankalev in a largely unequal five-round fight. But now, he will be looking to win against one of the most dangerous strikers in the division.
