Jake Debrusk (born October 17, 1996) is a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger currently playing for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted 14th overall by the Bruins in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Debrusque is the son of color commentator and former NHL forward Louis Debrusque.

Salary
After a whirlwind of new signings and trades on the first day of the NHL’s free agency, the Boston Bruins now sit with a fairly crowded bottom-six in their forward lineup. Nick Foligno, Eric Houla, and Tomas Nosek headlined the new additions, creating a series of free-agent signings that address the team’s recent need to improve their forward depth. At the moment, there are a limited number of spots available to both old and new players.
Contract
The Bruins took care of one of their biggest remaining assignments on Monday when they announced an extension for banned free agent forward Jake Debrusk.
Debrisk’s new deal will be a two-year contract with a total value of $7.35 million. This comes out to a salary cap hit of $3.675M per season.
A first-round pick in 2015 (number 14 overall), Debrisk has developed into a key player in the Bruins lineup and has been a consistent secondary scoring option over the past three seasons.
He has scored 62 goals in 203 career regular season games, averaging a 25-goal pace in 82 games.
He scored 19 goals (and 16 assists) in 65 appearances for the Bruins last season. Given his production, this is a pretty reasonable cap hit to work with the Bruins over the next two seasons, and gives Debresk a chance to increase his value even more when it comes time for his next contract. This is a standard bridge contract.
The Bruins now signed with DeBrusk still have a little over $3M in the salary cap space to work with this offseason, per CapFriendly.
He has no other RFA left to sign, but might still be in the market for more depth on the forward or defense. Earlier this offseason he lost defenseman Tori Krug in free agency to the Blues, but shunned Craig Smith to the Predators.

“I think in today’s sport, with today’s athlete, there must be something more to it. I think we both held ourselves accountable in that regard – better open up the lines of communication and that’s on-ice.” There may be blood in the protest and he will take care of himself.”
