Jade Ashtyn Carey is an American artistic gymnast. She is best known for her powerful and high-difficulty exercises on vault and floor exercise. On vault, she is the 2017 and 2019 World silver medalist, the 2018 Pan American champion, and the 2017 United States national champion.

Jade Carey qualified for Tokyo by earning an individual invite due to how she has performed in the Apparatus World Cup Series over the past three years. She did not need to be one of the top finishers at trials. But, she did ultimately lose a chance to be part of the team competition.

Even with a bevy of mistakes from Team USA in women’s gymnastics qualifying at the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday, one of the biggest positives was the performance of Jade Carey, a future Oregon State gymnast.
Carey recorded the second-highest score in the vault, a 15.166, and finished with the third-highest score in floor exercise, at 14.100, to qualify for the finals in both events.

The Phoenix 21-year-old, competing as an individual instead of as part of the U.S. team, qualified for floor exercise and vaulting finals Sunday with her best performances of the year.
Carey and U.S. superstar Simone Biles, who had one of the roughest performances of her career in the third qualifying session at Ariake Gymnastics Centre, will compete in the vault final Aug. 1 and floor final Aug. 2.
