Jabrill Ahmad Peppers (born October 4, 1995) is an American football strong safety for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Michigan, and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. A native of East Orange, New Jersey, Peppers originally attended Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey, New Jersey. He started as a cornerback in his freshman year, before also taking over as a running back as a sophomore. With Peppers, Don Bosco won consecutive New Jersey state championships in 2010 and 2011, and was the top-ranked team in the nation by USA Today in 2011.

Jabrill Peppers was a first-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2017, and he came to the New York Giants as the prized jewel in the Odell Beckham Jr. trade. Last season, his second with the franchise, Peppers really came into his own. The safety was all over the place with 91 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery. But Peppers’ role has dipped significantly for the Giants in 2021. New York is off to a 1-5 start. It is four games behind the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East, and Peppers has only played 61% of snaps this season.
Instead of being a featured star in the Giants defense, he has been reduced to a fringe starter.

Jabrill Peppers had a solid first season as a New York Giant. In 11 games, the versatile safety registered 76 total tackles (51 solo), five tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, three forced fumbles, five passes defended, and one interception which he returned for a touchdown. He also returned four punts for 49 yards (12.3 yards per return).
Peppers suffered a back injury in the team’s Week 12 matchup in Chicago that cut his season short. However, prior to the season-ending injury against the Bears, the 24-year-old was playing some of his best football.

It’s an uneasy feeling for a simple reason: Jabrill Peppers is a good football player, and he’s only developing and coming into his own as a 25-year-old. Peppers has done this well for the Giants; he’s aligned 383 times in the box during 2020, the most of any other alignment.
