Jabrill Ahmad Peppers is an American football strong safety who is a free agent. He played college football at Michigan, and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. A standout athlete early in high school, he was named the Air Force National Sophomore of the Year in 2011.

Highlights:

The 26-year-old Peppers suffered the ACL tear in October and could be back in time to play for the Patriots in Week One.

Originally a first-round pick of the Browns in 2017, he was sent to the Giants in 2019 as part of the Odell Beckham trade, and he played three seasons in New York.

For the last two years Peppers played under Giants head coach Joe Judge, who is now a Patriots assistant and presumably gave Peppers a good recommendation to Bill Belichick.

Heisman:

When Jabrill Peppers went down with a torn ACL during the 2021 season, many tabbed that as his final game in a New York Giants uniform.

Peppers was, of course, acquired in the infamous Odell Beckham Jr. trade that brought the safety to New Jersey to play in his home state.

As general manager Joe Schoen continues to evaluate the Giants roster, including the pending free agents, many believe that Big Blue will ultimately let Peppers walk.

However, as Peppers continues to rehab to get back from injury, he may be taking advantage of his time at the team facility as he gets to know the new GM and coaching staff.

In New England Peppers will join safeties Devin McCourty, Adrian Phillips, Kyle Dugger, Joshuah Bledsoe and Myles Bryant.

However, when asked to rework his contract, the Giants’ longest-tenured player agreed to a pay cut this past week. After Shepard’s Achilles injury at the end of the season, his value on the open market likely went down, which could have factor into his though process to take a pay cut.
