Ja Morant is one of the best players in the NBA right now, and in the eyes of many, he could be the face of the NBA. Morant wants to take the Grizzlies to the Western Conference Finals, and if he is able to defeat the Golden State Warriors, he will immediately be seen as a hero among fans, no matter what team they cheer for.

Having said that, Morant has the backing of some of Memphis’ biggest artists. Among those cast are Key Glock and the late Young Dolph, who tragically passed away last year. He was a mainstay in Grizzlies games, and was seen to shine during his rookie season.

Steph Curry had 30 points, and Jordan Poole made another sensational performance, with 27 points. Klay Thompson hit four 3-pointers and pulled down nine boards.

Grizzlies star Jaa Morant was off the court late in the game with a knee injury and walked into the locker room after being seen on the bench. He did not return and was being evaluated postgame.

After the game, coach Taylor Jenkins said that Poole grabbed Morant’s knee and “bent it.” Jenkins said the Grizzlies would discuss the play and decide whether to ask the league to look into it. He said he was “curious to see what happens.”

“It was a basketball game,” Poole told reporters. “I hit the ball. I was going for the ball. … I’m not even that type of player.”

Morant and Jackson’s comments are a jibe at Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. Dylan Brooks was kicked out of Game 2 after receiving a Flagrant-2 foul in the first quarter for a hit to the head of Gary Payton II, which resulted in Payton suffering a fractured elbow.

“Dylan Brooks broke the code,” Kerr told reporters after the game. “That’s how I see it.”

Morant was dribbling the ball when Poole and Andrew Wiggins came out to form a double. He attempted a spin move to make room, but Warriors players trapped him and let the ball loose.

While Morant was fighting for possession, Poole attempted to swipe the ball and happened to catch Morant’s knee.

“He is being evaluated right now,” Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins told reporters after his team’s loss. “He was going for a loose ball and Jordan Poole grabbed his knee and shook it. I look forward to seeing what happens to him.”

Jenkins said he would speak to Grizzlies general manager Zack Kleiman before deciding whether he would like league officials to review the play.
