Knee injury
Memphis Grizzlies star Jay Morant survived a serious knee injury, but is expected to have at least “a couple of weeks” off, coach Taylor Jenkins told reporters ahead of Sunday’s match against the Sacramento Kings.
Jenkins said Morant did not suffer any tear or ligament damage in his left knee, but added that there was no official timetable for his return.
“We are very grateful that we survived a significant injury,” Jenkins said. “We expect a full recovery, and it’s nothing long-term that we’re worried about.”
Morant sprained his left knee in the first quarter of Friday’s loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

The Grizzlies said preliminary imaging showed that Memphis Grizzlies star Jay Morant suffered a left knee sprain in the first quarter of a 132-100 home loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night.
Morant was hurt while dribbling the ball towards the paint, although there was no contact that caused the injury. He started limping, passed the ball and then fell off the floor in the middle of the game.
After briefly appearing in front of the Grizzlies bench, Morant was helped into the locker room, leaving no pressure on his left leg. A few minutes later, the Grizzlies announced that they had been kicked out for the rest of the game.
