Israel Mobolaji Odunayo Oluwafemi Temitayo Owolabi Adesanya (born 22 July 1989) is a Nigerian professional mixed martial artist, kickboxer, and former boxer with multiple championships in all three disciplines. As a mixed martial artist, he currently competes in the Middleweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is the current and two-time UFC Middleweight Champion. In kickboxing, he is a former Glory Middleweight Championship title challenger. Israel Adesanya gave an impressive post-fight interview on Saturday after winning his UFC middleweight title back from Alex Pereira.
‘The Last Stylebender’ delivered a brutal knockout in the second round to claim victory over the Brazilian fighter, whom he had faced four times, and whom he had lost to previously in November 2022.
During the interview, Adesanya gave an inspirational speech to his fans and urged them to stay strong even in the face of adversity.
‘When they talk s*** about you, when they put a foot on your neck, and if you stay down, you will never get that result,’ he said.
Despite the bitter rivalry that had developed between the two fighters, Adesanya spoke highly of Pereira after the bout, acknowledging him as a great champion.
‘No matter what, Alex is a great champion, he lost the belt tonight but he will always be a champion,’ he added.
Adesanya’s victory was a remarkable feat, given that he had lost his title to Pereira just a few months earlier, and he expressed his gratitude for being able to reclaim the title in such a decisive manner.
